Dr. Yadlapalli S. Kusuma
Dr. Y.S. Kusuma is a faculty member at the Centre for Community Medicine of AIIMS since 2005. Prior to it, she was in Andhra University and Utkal University as doctoral and post-doctoral fellows, respectively. She earned her Post-Graduate and Doctoral degrees in Anthropology respectively in 1992 and 1999 from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam and obtained Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics from Andhra University in 1995. She worked on various health and health care issues amongst diverse communities including tribes, rural, urban populations, and migrants. So far, she undertook eight research projects with the support from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS, New Delhi), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Science and Technology (DST). She published 75 research papers in international and national journals including some book chapters. Her research interests include health and health care issues of migrants and tribes, cultural epidemiology, in addition to socio-behavioural and health systems research. She is carrying out community-based interventions to improve healthcare access to the urban poor.
